Caring Ministries

Lilies are delivered during Lent to those who are home-bound

Care Connection

The Care Connection is an outreach ministry to help MUMC families who are coping with life's uncertainties.  As the need arises, members of the Care Connection prepare and deliver meals, prepare and serve refreshments at funeral visitations, send note cards, make supporting calls and may help in other ways.  Please call Linda Maynard 573-875-6656 if you would like to be a part of this ministry.

Flower Ministry

Each week volunteers deliver flowers to those who are hospitalized or in a care center. This ongoing ministry brightens the lives of those who receive these special deliveries. Volunteers serve every other month, or possibly every two months, for approximately two hours. For more details or to volunteer, call Mark Pease at 573-443-3111.

Women Cancer Survivors

Members of the Women Cancer Survivors Ministry Team are available to offer support and share their experiences with any woman recently diagnosed with cancer. If you or someone you know would like to talk with a cancer survivor, call June DeWeese, 573-445-2252, or Mary Frances Potter, 573-443-0256. If you are a cancer survivor and would like to join this ministry team, please call June DeWeese.

Open Door Ministry

The Open Door Ministry was started with the full support of clergy, by parents and friends of lesbians, gays, bi-sexual, transgender, queer, and other church members interested in social justice issues. The group examined biblical references to homosexuality as traditionally interpreted and also as understood in the context of contemporary scholarship. In the process, members banded together to initiate regular meetings and establish an Open Door Ministry. The purpose of the Open Door Ministry is to welcome and minister to God’s LGBTQ children, their families, and friends so they have a safe place within the faith community where all can worship, share in fellowship and experiences, examine church issues and teachings, provide support, hope, and encouragement for inclusivity, diversity and the strength to continue doing God’s work.

Parish Visits

Even though they are home-bound or in a health care facility, our senior members need to have an assurance that we as the Church continue to love them, reflecting the love of Christ by generously participating in monthly visits. If you would like to share the love of Christ by visiting with one of these wonderful saints of the church, please contact the church office at (573) 443-3111. Please give this your prayerful consideration. It would mean giving about an hour to an hour-and-a-half of your time per month and would bring such joy to the recipients of your visits.
