All I Want for Christmas is Brass

Begin your holiday celebrations with The Holiday Brass Concert featuring the brass faculty and students from the University of Missouri. Hear your seasonal favorites performed by some of the finest brass players in Missouri:  the Mizzou Brass, the MU Brass Choir, Trumpet Ensemble, Trombone Choir, Horn Choir and the Tuba Euphonium Ensemble,. Under the direction of Dr. Tim Howe, Associate Professor, Trombone/*Brass Area Coordinator, University of Missouri, these fine ensembles will surely put you in the spirit of Christmas! Joining the MU Brass this year is one of Missouri's most popular jazz ensembles, the Alan Beeson Trio, led by Mizzou Alumni Alan Beeson. Their special arrangements of the season’s most popular carols will add a special musical dimension to this year’s concert.

The Missouri United Methodist Church proudly presents A Baroque Christmas to Remember. The MUMC Chancel Choir, directed by Dr. Tim Coday, will join forces with the Missouri Symphony Society Conservatory Chamber Orchestra, directed by Maestro Kirk Trevor, to offer a beautiful concert of Baroque Choral favorites including Vivaldi's Gloria and other Advent and Christmas music.

Dr. Shelly Moorman-Stahlman Organ Workshop

Dr. Shelly Moorman-Stahlman, Lebanon Valley College organist and professor of music, will lead an organ workshop on Friday evening the 16th at 7pm at the church. On Saturday the 17th, at 7pm, she will perform works of Widor, Durufle, Bach, Lau, Farrington, Hampton, and Messiaen on the historic Skinner organ at the church. Dr. Moorman-Stahlman has performed as a featured artist at major venues in Washington, D.C., New York City, and across the Midwest. She has garnered an impressive array of competition credits, including semi-finalist at the St. Albans International Organ Competition in England

Columbia Community Band

This spring concert will feature the Columbia Community Band playing all Missouri composers. The Columbia Community Band, one of the Midwest's premier symphonic concert bands was founded in 1981. The band offers membership to professional and non-professional musicians from all across the Mid-Missouri community. Performances include classical, contemporary, and festive pieces in a wide variety of community venues.

The format will be a panel discussion including a survivor of sexual abuse, a survivor of sex trafficking, and an expert in the dangers
