When you visit Missouri UMC we want you to feel right at home as soon as you walk onto our campus. Here’s what you can expect:
Our Mission: Missouri United Methodist Church exists to connect all people with Jesus Christ. We do this by welcoming enthusiastically, growing deeply and serving courageously.
Parking: Parking is available in the church lot at the corner of 10th & Elm. Additional parking is available in the Hitt Street Garage located diagonally across the street from church lot. A golf cart shuttle is provided between the garage and the church. Street parking is also available, at no charge, throughout the downtown area on Sundays.
Entering the Building: There are a number of ways to enter the building.
- Enter directly into the Sanctuary via the red doors on Ninth Street.
- Enter into the Connector area through either set of glass doors off of the parking lot or through the glass doors located in the Courtyard area on Ninth Street.
Once in the Building: You will be greeted by a member of our Hospitality Team regardless of which door you enter. They will be happy to help you find your way throughout the building and answer whatever questions you might have.
Child Friendly: Our hope is that your child will have the best possible experience while in our care. While children are always welcome at our worship services, adults look forward to caring for and sharing God's love with your child while you attend worship and our Sunday Better Together groups. Our childcare workers and kids' worship leaders enjoy and excel in the ministry of caring for your children.
A Safe Place: Every United Methodist church has a Safe Sanctuaries Policy “to demonstrate our absolute and unwavering commitment to the physical safety and spiritual growth of all of our children and youth.” Our church is a Safe Sanctuary Church for Children and Youth. Parents will be asked to sign their children in and out of nursery, child care, and children's worship.
On Sunday mornings look for the Family check-in station in the Connector.
During the 8am Worship Service Nursery Care is available for children 5 years old and younger.
During the 9:15am Worship Service Nursery Care is available for children 3 years old and younger. Children over the age of 3 can go to the worship service in the sanctuary and participate with their families. After opening music, prayers and Children's Time, they can follow the crowd to Kids Worship! and Serendipity Choir. If families wish for children to remain in worship, children’s worship bags packed with activities to help them connect to worship are available at the doors.
During the 10:45am Worship Service Nursery Care is available for children 2 years old and younger. Children 3 years old and older begin in age-level classrooms, move to a large group video lesson and return to small groups to participate in active learning.
A Comfortable Environment
We strive to provide an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming. Come as you are, no dress code!
While in Worship
Our ushers will give you a bulletin when you arrive. In it you will find ample information to guide you through the worship service as well as information about current program activities. An offering will be collected during the service; however, you are our guest in worship, so all you experience is our gift to you. We don't expect anything from you. Instead of a financial gift, you may share your name on a communication card and let us know any ways we can better serve you. You may place these communication cards in the offering plates.
After Worship Service
If you choose to share your name or any other information with us, we will pray for you, and we will also send you a "Hi there" note and a small gift with the goal of being friendly and to helping you make connections at a pace that is comfortable to you. Membership is not required to share in the ministry, service opportunities, groups, etc.
There is nothing like visiting churches and seeing where God wants you to belong. Blessings on the journey to find your church home!
