Meet the Staff Team
Rev. Fred Leist - Lead Pastor
Works with a team of clergy committed to excellence of worship and an outward focus toward ministering to both the local and global communities. He has served for 33 years as pastor of local congregations in a variety of settings ranging from small town to inner city to suburban communities. His most recent appointment in the Missouri Conference has been as District Superintendent of the Southeast District of the Missouri Conference. His role on the Missouri Cabinet for five years has provided him with on-the-job training for best practices in fruitfulness and effectiveness in local church ministry.
“I firmly believe that the local church is the place where faithful followers of Christ are formed, lives are transformed and communities are impacted,” said Leist.
+ Laura Bentley - Administrative Assistant
Supports guest relations and all discipleship ministry activities for children, youth, college age and adults. She worked for H&R Block for 26 years and is the mother of five kids between the ages of 11 and 28. She loves outdoor activities, cooking and spending time with family.
+ Tim Coday - Director of Music Ministries
Oversees all musical ensembles of MUMC, including the Chancel and Agape Choirs, and also coordinates all music for all church services. He is a lifetime performer, conductor and educator, and his musical interests include everything from bluegrass to opera.
+ Rev. Joan DeBoe - Pastor of Worship and Administration
Designs the worship experiences for our congregation and manages all office administration from accounting to building to technology. A lifelong United Methodist, she grew up in Memphis, Mo., and holds degrees in accounting and business administration.
+ Adriene Floyd - Executive Assistant
Pastoral administrative support, bulletin, baptism scheduling and support, memorial services, communion coordination and membership database. She also leads choir at First Christian Church and is a classically trained pianist who focuses on building healthy church choirs out of struggling programs.
+ Teressa Gilbreth - Director of Communications
Supports all ministries' publicity needs, news, marketing, graphic design, branding, website, media relations, social media, digital strategy, video. She’s a lover of post-it notes, candy, Diet Coke and her family—not in that order.
+ Rev. Charity Goodwin - Pastor of Discipleship
Develops facilitators and growing opportunities for people at all stages of faith. A certified facilitator of Brene Brown's research, her personal mission is to live, teach, and inspire emotional healing and wholeness. A Mizzou J-School graduate, she loves spending time with her two young sons, trying new recipes and listening to podcasts.
+ Jo Lee - Events Coordinator
Handles all things calendar, scheduling and building related and manages facility stewards to work with the many outside groups that use our facility. She joined MUMC after 20 years as a traveling military wife and administrator for organizations such as the school district in Anchorage, Alaska.
+ Rev. Kim Parker - Pastor of New Generations
Growing a new faith community among millennials, leads contemporary worship service, preaches, coaches ministry leaders. She came to us from Mississippi and is an expert in college age and youth programs and contemporary worship with a heart for missions.
